Wallonia has a growing number of local and international companies active in innovative digital technologies , representing nearly 20% of the digital sector in Wallonia. These companies and institutions maintain close relations with the Digital Wallonia platform, a place of convergence and dissemination for the monitoring of digital strategy projects and digital news in Wallonia. 

WALLONIA'S DIGITAL STRATEGY

Digital Wallonia sets the framework for all of the Walloon Government’s actions in terms of Wallonia’s digital transformation. Five major themes that shape Wallonia’s digital ambition

Digital sector : A strong digital sector and an cutting-edge research, able to capture and maintain the added value of the digital transformation on our territory.

Digital business : Boosting the Walloon economy depends on a strong and fast increase of digital maturity of our companies.

Skills and education : Each Walloon citizen must become an actor of the digital transformation by acquiring strong technological skills and adopting an entrepreneurial attitude.

Public Services : a new generation of open public services, acting transparently and being by by themselves an example of the digital transformation.

Digital territory : Smart and connected to broadband networks, our territory must offer an unlimited access to digital innovation and act as a driver for the industrial and economic development.

On 6 December 2018, the Walloon Government approved the updated Digital Wallonia strategy for 2019-2024.

The Wallonia Export-Investment Agency's (AWEX) digital actions

To accelerate the internationalization of start-ups, but also the digitization of the Walloon economy, Awex is increasing its actions focused on the digital sector.

In addition, in collaboration with AWEX, a network of 10 international Digital Wallonia hubs has been set up.

The objective is to have these hubs in cities and regions characterized by a high level of digital innovation, to offer Walloon startups and companies in the digital sector a privileged point of contact likely to accelerate the growth of their activities. and to facilitate their relations with local communities. The 10 Digital Wallonia International Hubs are San Francisco, Barcelona, Shenzhen, Montreal, Berlin, Tel Aviv, Singapore, London, Stockholm and Paris.
