Jean-Michel Colnot - Operations Director
In 2016, the American pharmaceutical group Johnson & Johnson located the European distribution centre for its Medical Device & Diagnostics branch to Courcelles. Over a surface area of 47,000 m2, this centre distributes 54,000 products to 21 European countries. It also supplies warehouses around the entire world with products manufactured in Europe.
The site has a packaging platform which directs packages, according to weight and volume, to one of the eight sorting lines identified by destination country or carrier.
"Wallonia is ideally located for road consignments to our two major markets, France and Germany, and it is close to the freight airports of Brussels and Liege", explains Jean-Michel Colnot, Director of Operations. The region benefits from the support of public authorities and has the necessary workforce. Our teams work 7 days a week, which allows us to process an average of 4,000 orders per day."
Five years after its investment in Courcelles, the group also increased its presence in Wallonia with a further investment in a European distribution centre. Located in La Louvière, at the Garocentre site, this tool has generated more than a hundred direct jobs.
