Trenker leaves Brussels for Wallonia
Short of space in Brussels, the pharmaceutical firm Trenker has recently officially inaugurated a 6,000 m² building in the Nivelles industrial park.
Already operational for several months, it represents an investment of €15 million. Covered by 552 photovoltaic panels supplying 25% of its electricity, it offers Trenker new possibilities.
An independent company
Founded 85 years ago by the grandfather of the two current managing directors – Rodolphe Trenker and his brother Tristan – Trenker has succeeded in preserving its independence.
Although initially the company mainly ensured the representation of foreign companies and sub-contracted the production of a few products, its real development started in the 1990s.
Activity
The new Nivelles-based company, which has a total of nearly a hundred staff members, specialises in food supplements that help to fight arthritis or reinforce the immune system (3/4 of the company's sales).
It also offers veterinary drugs and produces a specific range limited only to France.
TRISTAN TRENKER, ADMINISTRATOR
"We have more production and storage space and we can now manufacture drugs and food supplements simultaneously. Thus, the different services are brought together."
An ideal location and a high-profile ambassador
Located in Brussels and Braine l’Alleud, these sites have become difficult to reconcile with Trenker's overseas development objectives.
Although initially the idea was to extend the buildings in Uccle, three reasons led the company to opt for Wallonia: the ideal geographic location for staff members, the site's ease of access and the subsidies granted by the Walloon Region.
Trenker now believes that it has the facilities, products and teams needed to become a high-profile partner overseas.
It also has a brand ambassador for the launch of its first general public campaign, David Goffin!
