The fight against cancer: Mestastop Solutions sets up its European subsidiary in the Gosselies Biopark
A successful gamble for the Wallonia-Tech India program, which aims to offer Indian start-ups the opportunity to access Europe via the Walloon ecosystem. Visiting last December, Mestastop Solutions inaugurated its European subsidiary in the Gosselies Biopark in May 2024. The Indian company is a pioneer in the fight against cancer metastasis.
Mestastop Solutions, a pioneer in the fight against cancer metastasis, announced in early May the establishment of its European subsidiary in the Gosselies Biopark in Wallonia.
Founded in 2018 in India by Arnab and Debabani Roy Chowdhury, Mestastop Solutions is today positioned as a leader in the development of innovative solutions aimed at curbing the spread of cancer through the metastases responsible for 90% of deaths in patients with solid tumors.
Thanks to its three revolutionary technological platforms (in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo), Mestastop Solutions explores the complex biology of metastases, enabling better targeting of patients at risk and the development of promising drugs to delay their progression.
Pascale Delcomminette, AWEX CEO
“The WalloniaTech-India program illustrates the power of international collaboration in the field of start-ups and innovation. We are convinced that these companies have the potential to thrive in the European market and contribute to the growth of Wallonia and Belgium.”
“Establishing Mestastop Solutions Europe in Belgium represents a crucial step in our mission to transform cancer treatment. We are convinced that this dynamic and innovative ecosystem will provide us with the ideal setting to accelerate our research and achieve our breakthroughs in the fight against metastasis”, explains Frédéric Sallmann, Managing Director of the European subsidiary.
It was in Gosselies that the Indian company first set foot in Europe. “We are proud to have created an attractive environment for companies like Mestastop in the BioPark Charleroi,” adds Dominique Demonté, CEO of the Biopark.
AWEX played a major role
The Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) played a key role in setting up the European subsidiary in Wallonia. Thanks to the WalloniaTech-India program, Mestastop Solutions Europe has benefited from invaluable support in accessing the resources and opportunities necessary for its development.
The program was first successfully launched in 2010 in partnership with Texas A&M University, before being extended to India. India, renowned for its leadership in start-up development, has around 50,000 start-ups, of which around 8,900 are classified as technology start-ups. The program aims to capitalize on this opportunity for global expansion. It's a celebration of the potential of Indian innovation and the opportunity for expansion in Europe.
In concrete terms, the WalloniaTech-India program offers selected Indian start-ups the opportunity to access Europe via the Walloon ecosystem. The program helps start-ups connect with corporate customers, partners and/or investors in Europe, and also offers the opportunity to develop their business in this market.
Mestastop Solutions was one of a group of 5 Indian life sciences companies invited to Wallonia from December 4 to 8 as part of the WalloniaTech-India program.
