Q-food expands to Neufchâteau
Located in the Ardenne Logistics zone in Longlier (Neufchâteau), Q-food Ardenne, a company specialising in meat processing, has just inaugurated a new production unit.
An investment of 7.5 million euros
When announcing its installation in the Ardenne Logistics zone in 2014, Q-food (the main branch of the group Q-group) planned the construction of a 2,500 m² building for the distribution of agri-food products to Walloon local authorities with a view to strengthening its presence in Wallonia. Today, in addition to its logistics activity, the company has decided to build a brand new 4,500m² production unit for a total investment of €7.5 million.
This structure, designed for boning and cutting, will also integrate a department dedicated to refining meats in order to obtain matured meat.
The company is also developing another booming activity: the production of mincemeat steaks.
LUC VERHUSLT, CHAIRMAN OF Q-GROUP AND CEO OF Q-FOOD ARDENNE:
The production of mincemeat steaks is important for our company's growth. It already represents €3.5 million of turnover out of a total of about €10 million for all the company's activities. 80% of the mincemeat steaks produced in Longlier are sold overseas.
A growing company
Q-Food exports above all to France, but it is also starting to sell in other European countries and in Asia. The company also holds several certifications. Among other things, it can produce organic or halal steaks on demand.
The company aims to double its turnover by the end of 2020 and is planning to expand overseas. A first sales agency has just opened its doors in France.
Q-Group
A 100% family company created in 1973, Q-Group initially specialised in animal breeding and gradually broadened its range of activities to include meat processing. The group's main branch, Q-food, was built in 2005 in Lokeren on a 2-hectare plot of land.
